MISSION OF
OAK VIEW COMUNIDAD
The mission of Oak View ComUNIDAD is to narrow the social, cultural, health, and economic gap between the Oak View neighborhood and the broader Huntington Beach community.
OUR COMMUNITY
Oak View is a vibrant, predominantly Latino neighborhood made up of hard-working families striving to build better lives for themselves and their children.
Many residents work low-wage jobs, and although immigration statuses may vary—from undocumented individuals to temporary visa holders to U.S. citizens—their values remain the same: family, safety, dignity, and opportunity.
WHY WE EXIST
Although the Oak View community is rich in values like perseverance, hard work, and family, it has long faced systemic challenges, including:
Environmental injustices
Limited access to healthcare
Economic hardship
Unequal public investment
Oak View ComUNIDAD was formed in direct response to these inequities and has become a trusted source of advocacy, support, and community resilience.
From leading a successful environmental justice lawsuit against a polluting waste processing facility, to organizing emergency food distributions and COVID-19 vaccination clinics, Oak View ComUNIDAD has consistently stepped up to meet the most urgent needs of its residents.
The organization operates with deep respect for the strength and resilience of the people it serves. As community needs evolve, programs and partnerships evolve as well.
HOW WE SERVE
OUR COMMITMENT
What remains constant is our unwavering mission:
To close the social, cultural, health, and economic divide that separates the Oak View community from the rest of Huntington Beach — ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
